Sip on This
Vibe with me for a minute.
It’s Friday evening. The kids are with their grandparents. You and your honey committed to a quiet evening at home. You light your Archipelago Pineapple Ginger candle in the bedroom to arouse your senses while you slip into something a little more comfortable. You dab on your favorite scent, blow out the candle and head to the kitchen to do a final check of the lobster mac and cheese bubbling in the oven. You dim the lights, arrange the table and set the mood with a little Anita. The scent of mascarpone, parmesan and cheddar mingling with fresh pepper and chives gently dances throughout the house. You fill your ice bucket with some water and few handfuls of ice. Then gently plop your Henriot Brut Souverain champagne into the bucket to let it chill. Your honey plates the food. You hear a light whisper as the champagne bottle opens. The bubbles flow. The conversation starts flowing. Sweet Love plays in the distance. I’m sure you can imagine what happens next.
So yes, I used a little creative license here because we were listening to Amerie instead of Anita but both names begin with “A,” so I think it’s okay. And we have dogs, not kids. Plus, technically I am the opener of the champagne and the plater for the food in this relationship, but I digress. The point is this, please plan the night above with a boo, with a friend or with yourself. Henriot Brut Souverain paired with lobster and cheese mac is the buttery explosion of excellence that your mouth deserves.
Also, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I highly recommend serving this classic bubbly at your own table or taking it along as a hostess gift.
I'll Have What She's Having
Surprise, this week, I’m featuring myself. I never properly introduced myself and today feels like the perfect time.
At my wedding. Tequila flow. Probably saying inappropriate things to my husband.
I’m Sheena. You already know I love drinks with bubbles. I also enjoy a bun in my hair, my husband, our two bichpoos, watching my plants grow, lighting candles, face masks, Fenty foundation, perfume, meditating, ruining yoga poses, Lush bath bombs, hosting impromptu happy hours and the people in my life who call me daughter, sister, friend, aunt and Tio (yes, uncle, it’s a long story). 🎶 But nothing in this world that I like more than checks (money) 🎶 so I’m also deeply in love with the health and wellness brands I work with day-to-day. (Partially joking guys but needed to sneak in that Cardi B lyric.)
I have a few favorite champagnes, but Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial is on my spirit these days.
Moet Ice Imperial is the world’s first champagne specifically created to be enjoyed on ice during the day when the weather is hot. This new champagne experience combines fun, fresh and free sensations while remaining true to the Moet & Chandon style, a style distinguished by its bright fruitiness, its seductive palate and its elegant maturity. -Wine.com
Moet & Chandon Ice Imperial is a crisp, refreshing, just the right amount of sweet champagne that pairs well with almost anything. It’s champagne without the pretense inviting you to kick back, have fun and savor its icy, subtly sweet vibe. And yes, you must add ice to your glass to get the full experience.
Budget-friendly alternatives: Freixenet Ice (Cava) and Veuve du Vernay Ice Demi-Sec (sparkling blend).
Pair with: Seriously all of these options are so easy breezy; you can pair them with your favorite sweet or salty snack or appetizer. Experiment and enjoy!
When to drink it: Your girlfriends are coming over for a cocktail and cackle, you’re doing cheese and chocolate fondue night at-home with your lover, you’re solo on Friday night catching up on your shows or you’re hosting a sultry summer Saturday night cocktail party with some of your favorite couples.
Clink. Clink.
Today, I’m toasting NBC and I don’t even need to explain why. Raising a glass to the lovely Tamron Hall just because. Giving UK-based The Pip Stop continual praise and clinks for this Superstar Sparkling Wine Advent Calendar because of course we should pop a bottle of something bubbly while counting down to Christmas Day. Here’s an Etsy version (you have to buy you’re own mini wine, though). Have you seen Perrier-Jouët’s jaw-dropping #ArtOfTheWild garden-inspired installation at The Mandrake? Clap for them. Cheers to Holly Van Hare who tells us to celebrate life’s smaller moments with champagne. And cheers to Da Luca for the yummy inexpensive prosecco I enjoyed Sunday afternoon. I paired it with a little garlic bread.
Who Said That?
This week we’re adding I Get Money (Forbes 1, 2, 3 Remix) by 50 Cent featuring Diddy and Jay Z to the demi & brut Spotify playlist.
“When my girl go on world tour/Ladies I’m back on the street like I’m out on a furlough/I’m back clubbing, Ace of Spades bubblin’/Drink it from the bottle, who the f* need a bucket?/ I’m killing the block, multiple whips”
-Jay Z (clearly admitting he was cheating on Beyonce in this verse. side.eye. shawn.side.eye.)
